Belfort

Hi everybody!
We had great days in Belfort.
pupils could break down their prejudice
Europa: After two years the Comenius project ended. Neumarkt´s pupils explained that Bavarian people don´t drink only or eat only knuckles of pork.
The main aim was to know each other during the two years. Thanks the European´s and state´s support they could handle the project.
Four pupils and three teachers went to Belfort for the last meeting. As well teachers and pupils from Spain and Sweden came to Belfort. Belfort´s team had to organize the last meeting. The pupils stood with host families. All were happy and enjoyed the French food. Even at the school they got a delicious lunch.
The pupils had to present their works. They should tell how they think about the pupils departing from the partner countries. At the end we wanted to know, did something change. What about the stereotypes? Spain is not only holiday, beach or flamenco. What did the pupils learn during the two years? In a funny way the pupils presented their knowledge. They could break down cliches.
During the week teachers and pupils attended some lessons. Neumarkt´s pupils have prepared a art lesson about Edvard Munch. The German team was surprised that a lot of French pupil learn the German language, even it isn´t easy for them. They asked the French pupil why do they learn German. They answered that they live near to Germany and Switzerland and they sometimes go to these countries. It was very interesting for the German pupils that all pupils are in the same school starting with the beginners and ending with the high-school graduated ones.
Naturally all discovered the nice and interesting town of Belfort. One trip brought all to Besancon, They visited the fortress and had a tour by boat round the old centre. Under the fortress hill there is tunnel for ships it´s 388m long. So you go back to the start point.
Teachers and pupils will be in contact. One German boy was invited to stay during the next holidays in Belfort.
The pupils should learn the variety of the European countries. An important aim was to learn about the daily life to break down prejudices and see the customs. Pupils who have done an exchange have no problem to go another European country, perhaps to look for a job in the future. Surely this project can help to build the new and common Europe.
